Speech and Language therapy plays an important role in both our middle and high school programs. Students identified as having Speech and language services on their IEP receive daily integrated language therapy in order to maximize the potential for developing effective communication skills. Our therapists work in the classroom and collaborate with all staff to provide a seamless integration of speech and language skills for each student. This model accommodates a variety of learning situations including small group therapy, social skills, and the use of alternative augmentative communication (AAC) systems. All of the therapists are trained to use a variety of assistive technology to facilitate communication development. An array of education and communication applications including communication books, static display and dynamic display communication devices are also used.
